Re: Old Age Sex

Touchy topic. :) But if you love a woman then putting the line on or off doesn't matter. We are attracted like opposite poles of a magnet to each other. The need overpoweringly strong as witness by octogenarian billionaires marrying again and again ad infinitum . Brave new world writing to touch suc...

Re: The Common House Sparrow

Your love of birds coming out in another poem, Bob. As child they were the only feathered friends I knew. We had a birdbath and I fed them crusts of bread and watched from behind the dining room glass window. Not so prevalent these days, their habitat squeezed somewhat by other species that thrive b...

Bipolar Man

Man listens to the arguments God does not care about the fate of the innocents. That He is impartial to the evil done under the sun. Man found it hard to see children cut off from the land of the living to hear the wail of despair from the mothers the cry for revenge from the fathers They prayed for...

Poem removed after workshopping for publication

‘Looking through my bedroom window, out into the moonlight and the unending smoke-coloured snow, I could see the lights in the windows of all the other houses on our hill and hear the music rising from them up the long, steady falling night. I turned the gas down, I got into bed. I said some words ...

Michael, Please excuse me, I thought it was obvious

Re: Mozart In The Fall

No one makes any decent critiques in the poetry world anymore. It is all about saying
something nice no mind how bad the poem is. I've yet to see one decent review from
anyone since Bernie disappeared.

Confession of a Don

I've known him for a decade or so through his writing. His work never moved me enough to critique But he was noticed He stuck to his own style and he was and is persistent. I can and do respect that. One of my great poet friends said of him, 'He is my friend.' and that was the oak-leaf cluster the d...

The end is Near

' . . . the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear . . . For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught To say the things he truly feels And not the words of one who kneels The record shows I took the blows And did it my way . . .' Lyrics of...

5th of the month

Usually, about this time of the month, Michael has an input.
I am wondering if he has forgotten again, or maybe he's given up.
I hope not as I have had a wonderful time on here for a decade or more.

One of a Thousand Drunken Nights

The Rat Pack of Seven A million drops of drizzled rain shine glistening on my coat - reflecting the light from the flash, surrounded by a group of friends Exams over, wearing my grey coat over an Italian cut suit open at the top showing shirt and tie. Bobby, well into his cups, grinning his hand on ...

Re: Stairway to Heaven

s1. We’ve crossed [over] the border into a far-off country. I like the theme of the poem, Bob, you bring a fresh eye to a common problem - decluttering. I've been engaged in such an activity for some time. But I could never give away my collection of books, files, articles, writing, random thoughts ...
