Re: listing to the left

Billy, we write because it's the only thing no one can take from us. We write to say, ' I was here." Our names will never be household words and we will never get a dime from it. But if we didn't write, one unique and finely honed view would not longer exist. Ours. You're plenty good enough. Being f...

The Cannoneer

At the American Legion there's a WWII field artillery piece, its tripod sprawled on white gravel like a Grandaddy Long Legs. When I was a kid, we held dances there and I was in love with Mary Alice Paxton, but when I asked her to dance, she smiled and walked off. They keep it greased and calibrated....

Acrophobia

I will not take you for granted the way God fools the moon in thinking all the light is her own. It is the nature of a man to crush those who love him until he figures the frailty of his own calculus. They say all infants are born with a fear of falling. The real fear is not knowing if you would jump.

Lots of good turns and a fair description of this particular group of geniuses. I recall reading Van Gogh had to borrow the price of admission to one of the exhibits his work was featured in.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. I am too old now to still stand on the whitewash of remembrance as one sees through a glass darkly. When I got caught smoking, my father broke one of his Cheste...

I was utterly not into The Beats except for Howl by Ginsberg. I think I read On The Road for a class.
Be interested to see what you do with this.

If I could live anywhere at all, I would build a home in your eyes: Tin roof for the rain, big screened Porch filled with growing things Like the fabled Gardens of Babylon, Stone fire place before which I Would alternately toast my bones And purify myself. I would live there, Chop wood, carry water ...
