Leaving the City
Lying in bed I read Chinese poetry.
The sleepy moon in the window
barely keeps its eye open. Du Fu
is by a river, in a thatched hut,
growing vegetables to feed weary
guests. The river becomes the moon,
a rainbow, a heron taking flight.
It's all moving slowly but surely
into a poem that delights Du Fu
more than royal courts and city lights.

Re: Leaving the City
The last 3 lines like this poem itself
yes, leaving this city leaving this world
I want to glide down over Mulholland
I want to write her name in the sky
Gonna free fall out into nothin'
Gonna leave this world for a while -- Tom Petty – "Free Fallin'" 1989
