Baby Shower
Wyatt, your beautiful wife Misty
has grown! She takes it in good humor:
unable to see past her waist,
her feet rumors,
she drifts slowly
above an oriental rug, trumpeter
swans swimming in a lake
of carpet below her, their long necks
entwined like vines.
Bunches of papery flowers
dangle from the ceiling,
centering the room--as beautifully
as your two lives will soon fill
with your adorable
Ashlyn.

Re: Baby Shower
Hi Bob,
Although this one didn't have the immediate engagement that I usually experience in your poems that I have read here;
this one did soon enough grow - come to term maybe that's apropos for the circumstance of the pome.
I esp like how the interior design scape symbolically mirrors the generating family & child union: Wyatt, Misty & Ashlyn.
Somewhat, somehow, recalls to me another pregnancy metaphor: http://shenandoahliterary.org/blog/2012 ... via-plath/
