Last Farewell

#1 Post by FranktheFrank » 29 Jan 2018, 15:09

Hi Ieuan

I miss you so much. My doctor says
I have cancer, in it's final stage.

So sorry we will not meet in our room
set up to proclaim the Gospel message
that Jesus died for sinners
and that through Him all might be saved.

I bless you with the blessings I have received
I pray for you, that you will endure
this fallen world. Do not despair
we will meet, it's been arranged.

The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
and His Spirit rule this world,
He is sovereign.
Satan is limited and will fall
like the evening star.

Do not let others lead you into
vain promises of foreign gods.

your pal
Paul

I like the understated tone of this poem, esp. the second stanza. But I wanted more, heightened language, information about Paul and the narrator, their relationship...details, maybe placing a shortened version of this letter in the middle of the poem?

Hi Frank,

" . . . Do not despair
we will meet, it's been arranged."

^^ esp spoke to me - belief - and the righteous f-word   Faith

" . . . the two of us...
Estranged sometimes for their very survival
Outraged at each other... engaged to each other in their hearts...
But they live apart..."

^^ lyric from "Two Kinds of Love" - a Stevie Nicks & Bruce Hornsby duet (1989)
