for Camille

. . her style was highly unusual for the contemporary conservative tastes. Despite this, Le Cornec and Pollock believe she changed the history of arts.
-- Walker, John Albert (2010). Art and Artists on Screen. John Albert Walker. p. 124

Forever fearlessly inspired
never to expire

Ruby Muse

making art
making musique & love
like light lyrical on stained-glass
aqua-marine eyes
reflecting the unbeveled

crystal-visions of a prodigal
provencial protégée
carpenter-city-child

with the heart of Hugo
the heat of Van Gogh
and the divinity of Michelangelo

you reached
above the dust
and offered
velvet locks upon the wheel
and in undoing saved
a rusting sun from setting too soon

"Love has given
the old man Rodin
new wings"

Belle de la lune
Beauty of the Moon
with a mad compassion for the mud

so that it can be
just like once
upon a great
warm white wind
sistine fingers lingering all around

but why must the night
be in descent
to turn starless

for eyes that relish light
ragingly refuse to wane
but phase into black moons
brooding bright

critics say delusions
of Medea
eclipsed a Madonna's claim

yet see again
how still with the patience
of Providence

like a cold fever broken
she melts marble into man

Morhardt: Who do you think you are?
Camille Claudel: Camille Claudel. I am Camille Claudel! And if you don't know it, I'll show you!

think this verse is the most like a Debussy passage that inspired her.

I especially like the image of a rusty dun from settling too soon...
