The Two Way Traffic

#1 Post by meenas17 » 06 Apr 2018, 19:51

Those around me
behave impeccable
flattered, I
lose my feet.

This could be
in front of me , extend
a smile and a bow
an accomplished  acting.

Impressed by their charm
I stay happy,
assume I am
great and terrific.

I do not believe them,
profess to do so
play the fool with discretion
a strategem I only know.

I like this very much,
a clever metaphor regarding poetry forums.
Very honest too, N is preoccupied with the truth,
accepts accolades, but a sliver of doubt remains,
N plays the game, the truth will emerge in time.

What N doesn't realise, she doesn't say,
is that as time progresses N's writing will
also grow stronger and so will N's confidence.

M---

one of your best i think.

because the logic is complex and requires the reader to understand the poet's intention.

here, for example:

...extend
a smile and a bow
an accomplished acting.

Impressed by their charm
I stay happy,

and especially here:

...assume I am
great and terrific.

and this solid, unexpected conclusion:

I do not believe them,
profess to do so
play the fool with discretion
a strategem I only know.

the poem works very well and identifies poem elements you can build on.

Thanks, Frank.
The thought came to my mind as I sat to write something else.
it has come out well. Happy to know you like it.

I was about to write about something totally unrelated.
This one took me unaware.
it is a simple poem.
Happy to read your comment.
Thanks, Bernie.
