The Cat Walk

#1 Post by meenas17 » 10 Apr 2018, 20:45

He is like a cat on the fence,
 a  connotation to fickle mindedness
the cat and the mouse game
one of  a popular sport of the kids
as stealthy as a cat,
a characteristic feature
are the allusions to the little mammal

 The long whiskers twitching
striped body in mixed colours
yellow and black, or black and white
A poor cousin of the  ferocious tiger.
 cantankerous and less harmful,
whose small eyesglitter in dark
decipher the slightest.

Nursery rhymes "Pussy Cat"
"Hickory Dickory Dock,"
read from childhood
create a bond,
the kid and the animal relate.

A friendly creature,
a pet at home is but
considered  an ill omen
in Hinduism, the cat
walks in style like a hero
on the walls of my house.

I am left wondering who the ‘he’ in the opening line is?

"He" can be anybody.
You, me, anyone.

M---

very nice.

i especially like the long whiskers.

now, everything relates to a cat....to gently suggest this might be also be a certain type of man...

what can the poem say?

The long whiskers twitching
striped body in mixed colours
yellow and black, or black and white
A poor cousin of the ferocious tiger.
cantankerous and less harmful,
whose small eyesglitter in dark
decipher the slightest.

might think about a frailty. a limp, for example.

and his independence.

Bernie,

Seeing a cat early in the morning is a bad omen in this part of the world, or for that matter a cat crossing when you go out is not good.
Cat is unpredictable, treacherous and opportunistic.
The poem tries to express these qualities. Man is no better than this whiskered mammal.

Thanks,Bernie.
