Colony

#1 Post by Kenneth2816 » 29 Jun 2018, 07:26

Six feet down, she is ravenous
and blind

Feeding her is no eight
hour day, no Union scale

Workers shuttle chum
to the Red Queen's lair,

June bug bits and stung
earth worms, dragged

into a hole of puckered
up earth, like angels

ascending and descending
on a stair.

In lean times, she
masticulates her wings

to sate the writhe of pupa,
300,000 more every

few days, drones
remove dung and dead.

Soldiers line up for a crack at her, stamp

their feet against the chill, pass a cigarette.

What a terrifying world you've exposed here with your colony...love the lean writing

Six feet down, she is ravenous
and blind

Feeding her is no eight
hour day, no Union scale

Workers shuttle chum
to the Red Queen's lair,

June bug bits and stung
earth worms, dragged

into a hole of puckered
up earth,
