"For one human being to love another human
being: that is perhaps the most difficult task
that has been given to us, the ultimate, the final
problem and proof, the work for which all other
work is merely preparation.”

― Rainer Maria Rilke,

I am her toad, my hoary head
and hers close in a cwtch.

Her hair alive with the sheen of Jupiter.
She gravitates her moon, her Ganymede.

I am, to her, all knowing, wise and warm,
her protector, the teller of tales,
of dragons and of myths.

Her small arm wraps around my back,
a caress of fondness, of comfort.

She will marry in time,
when she kisses her prince.
