Tired of Winning

#1 Post by FranktheFrank » 12 Mar 2019, 13:21

We gonna win so much you may even get tired of winning and you'll say please,
please Mr. president, It's too much winning! We can't take it anymore!
Donald Trump – Albany 2018

From inside the stadium chanting
can be heard to the beat of a drum . . .

“We love Trump,
Trump, Trump, Trump.
We love Trump,
Trump, Trump, Trump.”

They love his Mussolini pout,
his windswept hair that flaps
in the wind. They love
his weaving hands
that move sensuously,
signing in a language
only his devotees
can understand.

They love his redneck vocabulary
his mumbling incoherencies,
he way he announces
grandiose project that infuriates
the ‘anything-goes’
handwringing liberals,
the educated, the intelligencia.
who have enjoyed the luxury
that goes with being the best,
but ignorant of the trials
of the blue sweating workers.

He couldn't care less about
politically-correct speak.
Yet, it's touching to see his
belief that he's right. That
pomposity will right his world,
and make him another fifty billion.

He speaks about women
in that macho ‘out of touch’ way
unlike the modern sway.
He likes women too much,
he's exhausted himself on them,
speaks disrespectfully
about them, that bad boy.

“Bad boy, bad boy, bad boy Trump.”

And out of all the fury
of the masses, the downtrodden,
who had lost hope,
maybe he bring hope to lower class Americans
and their working world will become
a better place.

A giant hoarding proclaims:
‘Freedom's Electoral Roll Can't be Wrong!’

Yeah. Most universally hated U.S. president in history.

Some would say the most popular with the working classes.
He won the electoral vote.

I like the first stanza best....a subtle parallel with Mussolini might be a good approach to explore... political poems are incredibly difficult to make work....I admire your ambition
