Jesus Was...

#1 Post by Kenneth2816 » 02 May 2019, 09:01

Jesus peed. He wept, got angry.
Once he beat the shit out of
some peoplevwith a knotted rope.

He was a homeless guy
never having two nickels
to rub together, walked
everywhere ,slept out
In the open on the ground
He liked to build things,
probably said" Me-damn it" when
he busted his thumb.

He enjoyed the comfort
of a good fire, drank wine,
admired the attributes
of fine looking women
though he preferred
the company of men.

On Friday nights, he could be
found in the rough part of town
among robbers, prostitutes
tax collecters, lepers, beggars.

He shunned the so-called good
church going people, calling
them hypocrites and vipers.

He did not have white skin,
did not speak with a soft
British accent like the movies.
Jesus was not a Christian.

He was a Socialist who railed
against the 1% and favored
redistribution of wealth.
His followers carried out
The first recorded Socialist act
in history when they sold all
they had and gave to the poor.

And when they impaled him
on a beam, a part of him wanted
to rip the spikes from his limbs,
climb down and obliterate
the fuck out of everyone,
but he didn't.

It's fascinating how you meld the homeless Jesus(hey-soos) with Jesus(jee-sus) characters into one. It's a virtuoso performance, merging attributes they share, or would have. Updating Jerusalem, etc. to modern day and the 1% is a great concept. Here we finally see the Biblical Jesus as someone complex, not one dimensional. It's all good...but the opening and closing stanzas really grabbed me. I got a kick out of the strong ending. You continue to surprise me....I love it.

a part of him wanted
to rip the spikes from his limbs,
climb down and obliterate
the fuck out of everyone,
but he didn't.
