For the Love of a Dragonfly
Its youth is like a water nymph’s,
swimming for years among gardens
of submerged plants. You, too,
recall your youth in memories
of water, learning to float
in your daddy’s arms at the Y,
sprinting to the end of the pool
in team meets in high school.
In Japan the dragonfly means
to be happy...and clearly
you are. Did you know
dragonflies mate in mid air,
their bodies folding together
in a heart shape?
How I admire your agile body...
Suki, my body warms
to yours like a stream's
shallows to midday sunlight.
Hurry before the ardor
of the moment cools,
leaving behind
a blur.

Re: For the Love of a Dragonfly
Very lovely and gentle. Another fine poem. Nothing I saw needs improvement.
