Burning Man

#1 Post by Kenneth2816 » 06 Jun 2019, 11:59

The dead say there is a tunnel
that funnels light to pin point,
like roasting ants with a magnifying glass.

There are pieces of him everywhere-
bits of chewed nail in ashtrays,
footprints fossilizef in the Berber.

The automated voice that apologizes;
"this mailbox is full and cannot
receive any messages."

Sometimes, a man can burn so bright
with combustion of his own spontaneous humanity ,
there's nothing left but smoldering boots.

Hi Kenneth,

I like how the poem arrives.

workshop-share as:

Sometimes, a man can burn
so bright with the combustion
his own spontaneous humanity,
nothing left but smoldering boots.

also:

footprints fossilized in the Berber

I like the last 2 stanzas best... especially the smoldering boots. I am not sure how the ants image relates, or what it’s trying to tell me. Maybe it’s me.

Bob, it's a take on 2 urban legends. Near death experiences and spontaneous human combustion.
It's not you. As,a kid. I used to chase smts down and
burn them using the sun and a magnifying glass Fucked up, I know
But to those ants, I was God
I changed the wording .Thanks for the comments
