Formulary
f I bound you in silk brocade,
tethered to an oaken post,
your hair an apostasy of tangles,
damask flowing around thighs,
you would be no less mine than
if I wrapped you up in chains,
foundered on the floor, wild eyed,
nostrils flared; the drag coefficient.

Hi Ken,
I read your poem and my infra-ear heard:
"A rose is a rose is a rose."
^^ and that's in keeping with "formulary."

What terrific, efficient language... beautifully rendered. The contrast in “ties” developed here is masterful. Kudos

Re: Formulary
The poem reminds me a bit of Ted Hughes' great poem "The Hag". Do you know it?

Re: Formulary
Yeah, I can't find it either...hmm...it's in his first book "The Hawk in the Rain", the best first book of poetry every written imho. It's filled with great poems, from start to close. That book alone makes him one of the best poets of the 20th century. See if your library carries it....if not, you can buy it at Amazon.
Here's a link to one of the more famous poems in that book, "The Jaguar".....https://genius.com/Ted-hughes-the-jaguar-annotated
