this is not a proletariat poem

#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 12 Mar 2021, 21:33

Revision 3/17

freeing the oxymoron "stimulus check" with "pennies from Heaven"

money is only of value
for me
if it is given to me

after I have been as creative & productive
as a carpenter-sun with heart over matter
putting together many broken pieces
not punished with mindless manual labor
allotted an allowance for being treated workhorse

but human livelihood
truly earned humanely
no need to ask for
my daily bread
is freely handed-over
to me

in the name of Our Father without end:
Pro Patria without the needless taxing
and the burden of indecision

Hi. Bob,

Thanks for reading & commenting.

I have revised; hopefully evolved the poem.

Not my typical, but a creative needs to be open & receptive and breathe in as much inspiration as possible, to keep healthy.

It was time (and timely) for me to write this one.
It's actually a bit autobiographical -

"Write what you know"

😎

I enjoyed it but I like the earlier version better.
One nit: maybe you need an “a” before “workhorse”

I like the straightforward simplicity of these lines:

money is only of value
to me

if it is given
to me

by the hand of Our Father
untaxed

Give us this day our daily bread
