blackberry pie

#1 Post by Billy » 17 Jan 2024, 21:44

blackberry pie

in the middle of the first grade
holding on to the real thing
whatever that was

blackberry bird shit
on the old Edsel
grandma turning purple

grandpa churning and churning
the world goes round
thickening into this moment

with each turn
ice and salt
cream and sugar

the contradictions
the good farmer
the drunken fool

waiting for the good parts
even now i can taste it
my tongue purple

I agree -- a good slice of life, easy to understand and relate to, especially for readers with similar backgrounds.
