Poetry & Poets in Rags of October 2

#1 Post by rus bowden » 03 Oct 2012, 06:28

Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags blog

We begin this week with an Antjie Krog article in The Guardian titled: Should power listen to poetry? This is followed by no less than three items from which we find the abduction of poets, power silencing poetry. Aron Atabek is serving an 18-year sentence. Gul Hassan has been kidnapped and government agencies are quite possibly involved. Jagjit Singh Sahok has been released from prison, but still must face more charges for exposing "the anti-democratic nature of the government".

It's a powerful week for poetry in the news in many aspects, with more articles than usual, important articles in all three of our sections. I'll let you get to your clicking and scrolling. Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,
Rus
