any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!
and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules
Poems recommended to represent the Block are posted here in this thread, along with all IBPC required info.
When the 1-3 are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,
along with the all info needed by each author:
1/Your name
2/e-mail address
3/statement that the poem is your original
4/and unpublished work
5/and that you are not representing in the current IBPC
6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.
^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.
I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.
Please reply - accept or decline - in this thread.
Thanks,
Michael (MV)
Upcoming IBPC November 2013:
Re: Upcoming IBPC November 2013:
I'd like to represent the Block. This poem is not published and is my original work.

He Races Up The Stairs
Lying together in his single bed,
heads touching like magnets,
I read to my son: Twenty Thousand
Leagues Under the Sea, Chronicles
of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland.
Books held open above our heads
in the light of a lamp I made
in wood shop when I was a boy.
It's a well pump like the one
on my Uncle's farm, B+ still legible
on the underside. My son jumps
to pump it, grinning, light flowing
out. He lays an arm across my chest,
fondles my ear. Each night I long
to see stories come alive in his eyes.
Under the blanket, his toes wiggle
in anticipation. He asks me to read
again a part I can see he's pondering,
then falls asleep. I mark the page,
carefully slip from under his embrace,
grin, pump cool water on Uncle's farm.
