Upcoming August IBPC 2015:

#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 26 Jul 2015, 19:56

any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!

and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules

Poems recommended to represent the Block are posted here in this thread, along with all IBPC required info.

When the 1-3 are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,

along with the all info needed by each author:

1/Your name

2/e-mail address

3/statement that the poem is your original

4/and unpublished work

5/and that you are not representing in the current IBPC

6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.

^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.

I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.

Please reply - accept or decline - in this thread.

Thanks,

Michael (MV)

'Pulling Out My Varicose Veins' is my original, unpublished poem and I am not representing any other board. My e-mail id is sivakamivelliangiri@gmail.com.

Pulling Out My Varicose Veins

It started off as a slipper-bite
festered to make my feet ugly
venous incompetency
burning the skin.

Silently I listened to case histories
of how doctors slit the shanks
to string out the varicose
branching out in a stubborn green.

''We must see Thambiah''.
"A startling mix of medicine
in the year 2015, with
traditional methods might be seen
as having a high component of theater.'

Thambiah merely nodded his head,and
I calculated one more ring
in that gnarled Nagalinga tree.

Meanwhile as this healed, the ankle
of my next foot burst like a pod of seed,
shattering the skin without,
with ponds of pus.

'No oxygen for the feet, major blocks
everywhere, walk up, drink water, give
the vegetables and greens a shot---
in short transform into a moving robot slave.

And if you are writing a poem
don't forget to put the feet up.

Michael
Thanks. I feel light at heart today.I had actually used Bernie's comment as the doctor's words, and I thought you were angry.

yes, if not too late....

Private Life

For fun and fully clothed
she throws herself like a suicide
into the sea, a foaming surf
slaps her chest, knocks against her hips.

In the dining room she moves table
to table greeting strangers;

avian beauty, silver lip gloss,
long fold of brunette hair
over one shoulder.

She gathers a small crowd, tells
several stories then tunes a radio,
shimmies for the crowd smiling
at me and a dozen others.

Her violet eyes lapse
and close.
midday.

A light spray of champagne
on the lips; clearly
she is drinking again.
