#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 29 Sep 2015, 09:59

any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!

and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules

Poems recommended to represent the Block are posted here in this thread, along with all IBPC required info.

When the 1-3 are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,

along with the all info needed by each author:

1/Your name

2/e-mail address

3/statement that the poem is your original

4/and unpublished work

5/and that you are not representing in the current IBPC

6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.

^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.

I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.

Please reply - accept or decline - in this thread.

Thanks,

Michael (MV)

Hi Billy, and Hi Bernie:

If you don't already have a poem committed to representing another board this October IBPC,

then Billy,

would you please allow at the back of our minds to represent the Writer's Block?

and Bernie

would you please allow Bare Shoulders and Violin to represent the Writer's Block?

Please accept or decline in this thread.

If accepting, please provide in this thread all the needed info as usual/

Thanks Bernie, and Thanks Billy

yes, glad to represent the block although Bernie's poem is hard to beat, maybe whatever is left behind him.
This is my original work not published and I'm not representing any other board.

at the back of our minds

out of the sky
flying thunder
pieces of night

shadows of ourselves
looking away when we look
gathering in loneliness

picking at leftovers
wise to the world
clever beyond the natural

ubiquitous harbingers
of our strength
of the fruitful darkness

Violin and White Shoulders

Birds of some kind
circle on updrafts
holding wings
like ice skaters
on a winter pond,

there must be
something
wrong with them.

They fluoresce,
turn blue with cold.

below a corn
laden barge creeps
on the flaxen river.

God opens the robe
of my sweetheart
and ladles on colors:
morning amethyst,
goldenrod, moonstone;

rain bursts across
the brick street and idle
traffic light, rain falls on
tufts of half-buried
vegetable tops,

sodden birds look in
sullen and off key.

She is gone, emerald
recital gown limp
on a chair, empty rostrum
an unfolding silent movie.
.
I speak in tongues,
a badly written page, verses
poorly translated into English,

my violin stiff and unheated
by our rondo duet.
