Upcoming June IBPC 2017

#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 29 May 2017, 00:35

any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!

and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules

In this thread, from the poems posted in the workshop forum during the course of the month, recommend/nominate by title & author.

Nominated poets, please acknowledge the nomination here in this thread.
Please reply by accepting or declining the nomination - in this thread.

Please note & observe: This is not a workshopping thread.

In this thread, poems that are ultimately selected to represent the Block are then posted here
as the author would like for the poem to be forwarded
along with all IBPC required info.

When the 1-3 poems are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,

along with all the info needed by each author:

1/Your name

2/e-mail address

3/statement that the poem is your original

4/and unpublished work

5/and that you are not representing in the current IBPC

6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.

^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.

I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.

Thanks,

Michael (MV)

Autobiography

Trace of Macchiato
carelessly strung
over the cherry lip
of my wife's mouth.

To fool me, you need
more than a milk
moustache.

Hot shower water steeps
in blank circling puddles,
the tub's glazed spell
drowns her ballerina foot
white as winter Bolshoi,
naked buttocks draped
like grammar in a poem.

I forget the rhyme scheme
of my villanelle. She wins,
I put down the notebook.

Lounging in a Garden

The hummingbird flies back and forth
to her thimble sized nest

hidden among purple flowers
of a Princess tree,

her eggs the size
of large tears.

Yellow primrose flowers
of golden Winterhazel

shed like croissants--
and a weeping crabapple tree

shows froth and light,
teasing the bees

with her first braid
of white blossoms.

I, too, linger, lounging
among the grapes

of purple hyacinth,
the afternoon ripening

amid the pale blues
of Cantab irises.

Thanks Frank; Thanks Bob:

with bernie's poem that makes 3 for the June IBPC.

Frank, I hope you'll agree to leave the IBPC recognition - IBPC 1st place - April 2007 - out of the epigraph.

And just italics, not quotation marks, too.

Thus as:

Your dwarf Tangelo
is frostbitten,
rigor bristles the pulp;
    -- Bernard Henrie, "Winterset"

^^ Frank, let me know here in this thread ASAP. Thanks.

Good Luck to all in the finals.

HI m....

did you mean this pom:

Late Year

Winter long in tooth, but winter all right.
Used automobiles decorously rusted.
Buses, heavy and slow as water buffalo.

Women in scarfs like Arabs in Sri Lanka.
The men tramp the arctic with Shackleton.
The city cold as Rejevec or Pyonyag.

Stores close early, street traffic thins.
Traffic signals blink into the closing dark.
The quiet gloom, late winter in the city.

A cello next door, flat as plate glass.
My divorce, yellow pages of legal talk.
Mistakes I'm still trying to correct.

My small town is deaf and thoughtless.
It's winter, I am forgetful, comatose
like a dead letter in a rural post office.
