Vastu

#1 Post by SivaRamanathan » 12 Feb 2018, 22:34

in lotus position
a Buddha absorbs
all positive ions

A serene Buddha
absorbs all
positive ions.

S---

a few tricks to convert the water into poetic wine...

use color
use an animal
find a physical metaphor

A serene Buddha,
a dancing peacock
in red thought.

otherwise, the buddha image remains passive and stereotypical for most readers. give us something to jolt our preconceptions, nes pas?

Hi Siva,

it was the image/metaphor of "ions" that *captivated* me - I found that your image makes the scientific harmonious with the meditative -

and I find that Admirable

I suggest "absorbs" b/c "captures" is not a freed & peaceful status.

"absorbs" connotes a warm reception - like a caress or embrace.

I share with you now what I heard earlier upon finding & reading the excerpted cameo in its own post as a micro-poem:

in lotus position
a Buddha absorbs
all positive ions

^^ calmly & quietly charged

Michael

I have my doubts now. Should it be 'absorbs' or 'emits' ?

Absorb is to take in, soak up

Emit is to radiate out

or consult a dictionary, Collins or Oxford both good.

I know that. But what should a 'Buddha' do? Absorb or emit positivity?

And through Budda's teachings he emits
goodness long after his death.

So both.

Hope that helps.

I am not a Buddist but I can see that he
was a good man and teacher.

Maybe only a Buddhist can answer that.I met an English poet John Drew who wrote many Buddha poems.

example from the Russian poet:

by Anna Akhmatova

The evening light is broad and yellow,
Tender, the April chill.
You are many years late,
Yet I'm glad you are here.

Sit down now, close to me,
And look with joyful eyes:
Here it is, the blue notebook -
Filled with my childhood poems.

Forgive me that I lived in sorrow,
Rejoiced too little in the sun.
Forgive, forgive, that I mistook
Too many others for you.

the surprise, bitter sweet conclusion from a woman who survived the Stalinist era..

Right. The operative word is 'is'.

After 'Nirvana' only Siddhartha or Gautama becomes 'Buddha' 'the Enlightened One.'
