Upcoming March IBPC 2019:

#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 27 Feb 2019, 08:38

 Voice your recommendation(s) here, and

Please let us know ASAP if you are not going to be available to represent the Writer's Block -

then we will know not to consider your poems further this month's IBPC.

I/we will be looking for consensus - in keeping with a communal workshop environment

Which 1-3 would we like to see represent the Writer's Block in the finals?

After the 3 are selected, then will each author post - in this thread - the poem as the poet would like it forwarded,

and ALL the needed info/statements

Ideally, the only poems that really need to appear here are the final 3, when announced, hopefully by the 1st of the month, if not sooner

^^ the intent is organizational - if poems appear here before the selection of the final 3, then there is a congestion -

Until the final 3 are announced, please maintain poems & workshopping to the Workshop Forum. Thanks.

************

any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!

and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules

In this thread, from the poems posted in the workshop forum during the course of the month, recommend/nominate by title & author.

Nominated poets, please acknowledge the nomination here in this thread.
Please reply by accepting or declining the nomination - in this thread.

Please note & observe: This is not a workshopping thread.

In this thread, poems that are ultimately selected to represent the Block are then posted here
as the author would like for the poem to be forwarded
along with all IBPC required info.

When the 1-3 poems are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,

along with all the info needed by each author:

1/Your name

2/e-mail address

3/statement that the poem is your original

4/and unpublished work

5/and that you don't have a poem committed to represent another board in the current IBPC. One poet one poem one board
for each monthly,

6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.

^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.

I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.

Thanks

Michael (MV)

I am not eligible this month but I gladly nominate Eira’s “Between Seasons”, Kenneth’s “Marooned” and Billy’s “ the music of minutes...”, excellent poems in a very good month of work at WB.

Sorry to be late, and bearing in mind that Bob and Billy
are out here are my late entries

My nominations are:

1. Michael's: - untittled

2. Meena's: Aweful Calls

3. Eira's: Eternal peacock

I believe I can second as many poems as I like, therefore
I second Eira's: Between Seasons.

Update 3/3 Upcoming March IBPC 2019:

#9 Post by Michael (MV) » 04 Mar 2019, 02:38

I 3rd Eira’s “Between Seasons”

In addition to Kenneth's "Marooned,"' Eira’s “Between Seasons” will also be the representing the WB

^^ Of course I am assuming these two poets are in accord, and don't already have a poem representing another board.

If accepting, please in this thread provide ALL needed info & the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals. Thanks.

Now, a strong unison on the 3rd ASAP, b/c it is already the 3rd of March.

btw, Thanks Frank for the nom-nod, but I prefer my poem not be considered.
We are far from a deficit of IBPC contenders,
and I sincerely believe another poem should be the 3rd of our 3.

Thanks, but I am bowing out diplomatically.

However I am looking forward to discovering the workshop's choice for the 3rd entry and forwarding the triad to the finals

asap

a healthy week to every one

Thanks to Bob for nominating this and Frank & Michael for seconding. The details are-

Eira Needham
presentideaseira@hotmail.com
This is my original, unpublished work, not representing any other forum.

Between Seasons

September weaves with lime and copper;
a robin’s wistful trill coaxes me outside
where a north westerly blast

chills to the core.
Stomping in the rain, fallen leaves
are muddied to mulch. I ache

for dog days’ heat with perpetual light.
Yuletide brings distractions, gift shopping,
embellishments and overspending.

Limbs clothed in spangled white
summon me into an idyllic realm; desolate
I huddle beneath my faux fur throw, until

light promises. I stagger to the window,
searching, for a scarlet flash
of the swallows’ return.

_____

Daunted

He lay rigid, his tongue stuck
in a grimace, his last gesture to
this world with powder applied
carelessly that made him a clown.
Mam kept hugging his cadaver,
I gently drew her away. Laughter
leaked from the morgue attendant's room.

The coroner too busy to see me
his voice sharp as a slaughter
man's knife. ‘Was everything in order.’
I had doubts, but who could address
them. Dad’s gold ring missing,
his shattered femur, the outré orderly
claiming to be his doctor.

It rained all day, bucketed down,
the deluge as unrelenting as his demise.
Hours spent waiting for the certified entry.
Drove home in the dark, no time
to eat, white knuckles clenched on the wheel.

The hospital's solicitor dismissed our complaints,
harangued us for not visiting, how could Sis visit
from Australia, half a world away. His letter stirred
up in me a savageness I am ashamed of.

I put away that anger, stored it for another day;
now after twenty years I lay it out, disassemble
it, leave it to waft in the wind, fragments
that no one will remember.

Michael,
In the spirit of improving the selection process
some suggestions because we now only have two poems representing
the block this month, then perhaps:

1. No poem is considered unless the first nomination has been accepted
within 2 days of its nomination no matter how many votes it has.
or
2. All poem are considered being available unless otherwise stated
as Bob and Billy did early on this month.

I find a such shame that some poems have not gone forward.

In the spirit of improving the workshopping experience,
ieuan
