Black Crow

#1 Post by meenas17 » 14 Aug 2019, 14:09

A bird black in hue
eyes with a deviant
beak slight grey
a common feature
in the part of world, India
where it is held with significance.

It is a practice in most homes
where the cooked food
is placed on the walls or yards,
the lady of the house
imitates the crow's caw.
The bird flies down.

Belief being customary,
runs in the orthodox Hindu families,
that on the "Srardham, the anniversary
of the departed ancestors, food cooked
mostly their favourite dishes
partaken by the crow, symbolises
the appeasement of the dead

There is an expectation,
one of the arrival of guests
if the crow caws incessantly.
If two crows cross your way
you are bound to greet
good luck.
