Thanks, Michael. This is my original, unpublished poem and is not represented in another forum. Paul Signac I was a guest, an old friend of Vincent’s from Paris. That day he wore his famous bandage and a fur cap. I visited him at the hospital in Arles after he had cut off his ear’s lobe. He was luci...

The Reader

The Reader Sitting in the passenger's bucket seat
with her brown ringlets of hair
 like Elizabeth Browning
she bent over a book. We pulled up to the drive-thru. "You want a shake or soda?
" She shook off my question. "Do you like music?" I asked,
straining like a man at his oars,
 the waves kicki...

Paul Signac

Paul Signac I was a guest, an old friend of Vincent’s from Paris. That day he wore his famous bandage and a fur cap. I visited him at the hospital in Arles after he had cut off his ear’s lobe. He was lucid, and an intern allowed me to spend time with him outside. He took me to his house, to see his ...

A charming piece. I like the soft, innocent image of the last stanza in contrast to the hard edged tools listed before.

The Beatles in India

The Beatles in India Overlooking the Ganges, and rising from the jungle was the ashram. While George vanished into meditation John and Paul often spent their time fiddling with new songs, and singing at night on a bungalow's roof. Reporters waiting in London for the band were as thick as mosquitoes ...

Will Shakespeare's Mistress

If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. I have seen roses damasked, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delight Than in the breath that from my mistress reek s. --from William Shakespeare's...

Maybe change this:

We know how
to give our whole
lives every day.
We affirm you,
method!
(derangement
of the senses).

to

We know how
to give our lives every day
to the systematic
derangement
of the senses!

Maybe instead of method you should work in "derangement of the senses". That may be what Siva is suggesting too.

Re: The Resting Place of Rimbaud

I really like "The Resting Place...". So many strong stanzas! So many lines to quote...starting with these lines below. I love the writing in them. I'm not sure the renunciation and sanity stanza improves the poem. I'm not familiar with the reference to "the method". Could you explain the method? I ...
