Renaming Constellations

Renaming Constellations Six years ago I almost died. I don't worry about small things. So when my plumbing starts to tremble like a small child under a cold shower, the bones of the house knocking, I shrug. A week ago the lights went out. Now I don't spend my nights in the narcotic stare of the TV. ...

Re: Cuddles And Giggles

Maybe just trimming would help... The little one my grand daughter ever affectionate looks at me with no sign of recognition. The day before we played hide and seek, leaving no corner of the house unexplored. Now I go close to her she runs away terrified... This being a wedding, relatives and friend...

Re: The Koodangkulam Power Plant

Diva, I like this... but it can be better... the first 2 stanzas are not as clear as the last. I like the clarity and conversational tone of the last stanza...my only suggestion for the close would be to replace the “man made miracles” with something specific. Just a thought... since we’re all famil...

Creature from the Black Lagoon - revised

v2: Creature from the Black Lagoon My mother had warned me about older boys who hung out with my big brother. Especially Jamie, a thirteen year old with bubble eyes, his gaze always drifting across my chest. He was obsessed with the film Creature from the Black Lagoon , and like that half-fish monst...

Baudelaire

v2: Baudelaire Loud cries of his creditors warped the air as he dodged them everyday just outside his cheap hotel. New loans were harder to secure than a kind review. Weren’t horse droppings in the streets more popular than his poems? Convicted of obscenity, even his mother avoided him. Disgust-- gr...

Re: Cuddles And Giggles

Meena, I really relate and like the opening....it grabs me....too much telling follows, but these lines are excellent: The little one my grand daughter ever affectionate looks at me with no sign of recognition. The day before we played together she hiding, I seeking, leaving no corner of the house e...

Re: Christmas in Wales

I love the lush details...I could quote anywhere...

When Simoom blew,
from the west, from beyond the Alboran Sea,
the town awoke to a covering of fine red dust
from the Sahara and brought thousands of swallows
and swifts piping, feeding on the wind.

Nannerl on Wolfi’s Tour Through Italy

Nannerl on Wolfi's Tour through Italy For audiences it was the wonder of it. Wolfi, who could believe children could play so beautifully, five and eleven year olds playing harpsichord and violin as well as anyone? We created a language for our imaginary Kingdom of Back, our words as mysterious to ad...

Re: Indian Summer

I like this a lot...you capture the landscape well, and imaginatively

Love the close:
We waltz in a whirlwind
of copper and lime
foliage flurrying across
baked terrain.

East wind blasts
a spangled rime -
vaporizing into brume.

Re: Tribute of a Wooden Hut

I like the style you're developing, mixing in local slang....love the cockney her-indoors...the stanza is hilarious. I would move the third stanza up as the second stanza...the flow of the Vernon theme would improve. I especially like the next to last stanza...the writing is so good....I think you n...
