As It Is

As It Is Without the fluff The ballsy truth Wait a minute I'm not ready It takes preparation to be spontaneous I didn't dress for the occasion I didn't put my two cents in the slot machine of conundrums It spins and spins All the possibilities whizzing by the heartless pointer I didn't know the pow...

Re: The Resting Place of Rimbaud

All the italicized stuff is from one of Rimbaud's greatest prose poems, Morning of Drunkenness, from Illuminations. It is sort of a rant against all the hypocrisy. The tree of good and evil buried in the shade. As to what "method" means I will leave to your interpretation when you read it. I know on...

Re: The Resting Place of Rimbaud

Another poem from 40 years ago that I wouldn't post for crit. It would be demolished: A Letter Rimbaud II, “I am the slave of the Infernal Bridegroom. . .” I am the Steppenwolf. I am the Lion of Spring. The angry March wind beats my mane of glorious madness. I will not lie down with the Lamb; the La...

The Resting Place of Rimbaud

The Resting Place of Rimbaud revised His sister Isabelle claims he accepted the Catholic faith before dying. One leg. Cancer a silent witness to his life like the Holy Ghost. The priest performed last rites, said he had never seen such strong faith. Never to speak of poetry again. It lives on. Beho...

Another Day

Another Day It’s raining. The old man’s complaining. He sits in his chair. The old lady wraps a blanket around him. He tells her to sit down before she falls, he can take care of himself. She says I’m practicing, you’ve taken care of me all our marriage, it’s my turn. He says if it weren’t for you ...

Re: Poll - Request for Feedback on Chapbooks

Actually, a long time ago I self-published 2 poetry chapbooks. I didn't know then to call them that. One I had the local paper in Thermopolis, Wyoming print 100 hundred of them. I have 2 left. That was in 1980. The other one I did on my computer in Lukachukai, Arizona in 1999. I have one copy, gave ...

Re: Searched the Internet Again

Thanks Bob for being so generous. I just can’t so far get this poem right. I like the first version I wrote over at Waters best, but the other poets seem to think it needed something more and they’re probably right and this isn’t it either.

Searched the Internet Again

Searched The Internet Again revision 2 My ex came to Arizona to find me; I'm sure of it. I passed right by her at the Chinle Bank without knowing, could have reached out, touched her like the money I withdrew. I only saw her from behind. She left too fast. Too far gone to see if the car had Wyoming...

Lost Another One

Lost Another One I can knead my shoulders to a point. I can listen to the innocence of those near. The muscles in my legs stiffen, then shiver so the whole bed shakes. Unaware, the sheets flutter like frightened butterflies. The nightlight holds my life in its filament. A thread to unravel to the e...
