Six years on, your bicycle still
against the fence where you left
it, one wheel out of true, its bell
pitted with rust.
I've long given up trying
to wrest it from
the honeysuckle's death-grip.
There are nights I still taste
the whiskey on your mouth.
Your Ex convinced me to tell
your boy it was an accident
said it would be best.
What did I know?
When he makes a man, he'll come
gunning for me in some lawless
border town, whiskey on his mouth,
two silver dollars for my eyes.

Lovely write.
The bicycle with one wheel down, the rusted bell, t he Ex's dictum all go to make the poem vibrant.
