I used to have a clockwork schedule, bizarre but accurate: 12 years off, 5 years on, where I would write like one possessed, on a daily basis. And when the writing slowed, I knew I was, like the cicada, going back 'underground" for 12 years. This last time, however, the writing basically stopped and has been almost non-existent for 6 years over the time normally allotted. I do get dribs and drabs, but nothing like that "omg where's the paper..." thing. I mourned it at first, but then I realized, as a friend reminded me, you can't push a rope. Now and then something surfaces, but only minimally.
We'll see. I enjoy pulling other people's work to bits, hopefully in a gentle "this hurts me more than it hurts you" fashion, so Im not entirely out of the loop. But at my age, there's not a lot of loop left.
