The Spratts

Each night's supper is the same:
Canary feathers and marrow bone.

He lights his pipe, stokes the fire,
his one good suit in the wardrobe.

The dolorous abbey bells call him
to bed at eight o'clock. His wife is

already there, snoring, feet like ice,
taking most of the covers, dreaming

of finger pies, cherries and cream,
Yorkshire pudding and that she had

married that fool from the other
poem who jumps candle sticks

* finger pie is British slang for digital intercourse.

Hi Kenneth,

Enjoyed, Ken, especially the lines,

married that fool from the other
poem who jumps candle sticks

I like this unusual poem with its odd characters. I like how you are adventurous and take chances. Strong voice. Thumb's up for me.

Fairy tales and characters are such a great source for poetry. I should try one based on such. This one is excellent.
