the alligator sleeps

#1 Post by Billy » 28 Feb 2023, 05:01

the alligator sleeps

under the sun's blazing
comfort
i can't let go of his jaws

he's helpless
as long as i hold on
if he stirs

i pet his tummy
it's soft
the color of a cloud

he drifts to sleep
again
as if floating

down a river
dreaming of a little boy
to eat

they say
let go
he sleeps

i can't
i've been holding on
all my life

Nice perspective from a little boy’s point of view

i softly rub his tummy
that is soft
the color of a cloud

A little boy's poem written by an adult man - I like that

And the finale keeps it seasoned poetry.

U2's early BOY album is kinda like that - and it's a collector's item

Yes, I like it too. Just the right amount of words in each stanza.
