Another Day
It’s raining.
The old man’s complaining.
He sits in his chair.
The old lady wraps a blanket
around him.
He tells her to sit down
before she falls,
he can take care of himself.
She says I’m practicing,
you’ve taken care of me
all our marriage,
it’s my turn.
He says if it weren’t for you
I’d have died long ago
a miserable pessimist.
He’s warm now. They sit
quietly listening to the rain
and each other’s thoughts.

Re: Another Day
A very sweet poem. I like the calm in this.
