Upcoming April IBPC 2023:
Voice your recommendation(s) here, and
Please let us know ASAP if you are not going to be available to represent the Writer's Block -
then we will know not to consider your poems further for this month's IBPC.
I/We will be looking for consensus - in keeping with a communal workshop dynamic
Which 1-3 would we like to see represent the Writer's Block in the finals?
After the 3 are selected, then will each author post - in this thread - the poem as the poet would like it forwarded,
and ALL the needed info/statements
Ideally, the only poems that really need to appear here are the final 3, when announced, hopefully by the 1st of the month, if not sooner
^^ the intent is organizational - if poems appear here before the selection of the final 3, then there is a congestion -
Until the final 3 are announced, please maintain poems & workshopping to the Workshop Forum. Thanks.
************
any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!
and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules
In this thread, from the poems posted in the workshop forum during the course of the month, recommend/nominate by title & author.
Nominated poets, please acknowledge the nomination here in this thread.
Please reply by accepting or declining the nomination - in this thread.
Please note & observe: This is not a workshopping thread.
In this thread, poems that are ultimately selected to represent the Block are then posted here
as the author would like for the poem to be forwarded
along with all IBPC required info.
When the 1-3 poems are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,
along with all the info needed by each author:
1/Your name
2/e-mail address
3/statement that the poem is your original
4/and unpublished work
5/and that you don't have a poem committed to represent another board in the current IBPC. One poet one poem one board
for each monthly,
6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.
^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.
I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.
Thanks
Michael (MV)

Of course. Thank you for the offer. Is there a specific poem you would like to use?

Update 4/5 re Upcoming April IBPC 2023:
Thanks. Bob.
Bob, which one would you like to see nominated?
And, Bob, do you have any other suggestions, because Ken and Billy haven't replied.
Last month, I got the vibe that Ken was currently reserved from participating in the IBPC.
And where is Billy?
It's the 5th - and Triduum starts tomorrow
I celebrate Easter
like the First Noël
The last time
not unlike the first
The first not unlike the ever last
To Thy Kin gdom AOA
Alive on Arrival

Bob Bradshaw
This poem is mine, and is unpublished. I am not representing another forum.
The Right Chemistry
A tray of chemicals in a dark room
couldn’t have exposed love
any clearer than the moment I saw your face.
I didn’t study your portfolio or dive deep
into your past. I didn’t interview
old boyfriends or seek advice.
I didn’t have a checklist
for someone to fall in love with:
a woman with a dark storm of hair,
flashing eyes…olive skin,
someone who loves literature,
a woman as bright as light on water.
I saw you for the first time at dusk,
your face and the room softened
in the wash of shadows.
Was my love for you simply a matter
of brain chemicals--dopamine,
adrenaline, oxytocin?
On Saturn lightning can turn methane
into falling diamonds.
That's the way love was with us;
in a moment everything changed,
our hearts melded together
now for over 50 years
though I too give thanks
for what all lovers share:
the right chemistry.

Good Friday Update re Upcoming April IBPC 2023:
Thanks, Bob,
for accepting
and for recommending Dale's poem,
which I am 2nding, since actually I was considering Dale.
I'll PM Dale in the course of the day.
I'm needing at least some infirmary level of care 1st thing this AM - my skin is in trouble - I'm on the way, hoping it doesn't extend to the eyes.
Perhaps, Bob, you can PM or contact Dale to be 1 of our 3, although we may just be representing with 2.
Where is Billy? I am 2nd his nominated poem.

Dale Patterson
This poem is mine, and is unpublished. I am not representing another forum.
Paper Fan
Flames drip
from the tinfoil
teeth of the sun.
Sweat rolls
down my spine.
Power lines swell
with electrical juice.
Squirrels
walk the hot wire
seeking love.
I go to a bar
to get out of the heat.
Outside a vagrant
is tasered and cuffed.
Hot tar sticks
to the tires
of cars.
The woman
beside me
puts ice
on her tongue.
By sunset
she’s fanning
the back of my neck.
