Upcoming March IBPC 2015:

#1 Post by Michael (MV) »

any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!

and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules

Poems recommended to represent the Block are posted here in this thread, along with all IBPC required info.

When the 1-3 are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,

along with the all info needed by each author:

1/Your name

2/e-mail address

3/statement that the poem is your original

4/and unpublished work

5/and that you are not representing in the current IBPC

6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.

^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.

I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.

Please reply - accept or decline - in this thread.

Thanks,

Michael (MV)

Hi Michael,

I'm happy to have my poems considered for the March's IBPC 2015. Please find the required details below.

1. My name: Shriram Sivaramakrishnan
2. Email: shriiram@gmail.com
3. Statement: I hereby state that the poem, "I like calling my mom over phone" pasted below is written by me - which is to say that it is my original work - and has not been published anywhere. I also confirm that I am not represented in the current IBPC, and thus willing to have my above mentioned poem be forwarded to the finals.
4. My poem:

I like calling my mom over phone

that way I can create her from her voice

elasticize speckles on her
face for the sorrow

shuffle away crow’s
feet for her smile

iron out layers of time
bedraggling her body

weed out the white hair
fighting for a stronghold

that way I can forge my mom
from emotions, and her beauty

from her suppleness.

This is my original, unpublished poem, and I am not represented in the current IBPC. Thanks for your consideration.

We’re Old (But who cares?)

I’ve got to eat healthy at this stage of my life,
I have a glucose meter and a nagging wife.
Every now and then just so I don’t go crazy,
I sneak a buttered biscuit and a dab of gravy.

My workout routine is to roll over in bed,
And think of all the things I want to do before I’m dead.
Sometimes the daydreaming is as good as the doing,
Especially when I think of who I’d like to be screwing.

I take fifteen pills with my orange juice,
My right knee pops and my front tooth's loose.
Don't feel sorry for me that I only watch and can't play,
If you're lucky to live, you'll end up this way.

We’re old. But who cares?
Sometimes life’s silver lining shows up as gray hairs.
The view is fantastic from our rocking chairs;
Thank goodness since we can’t get up, but who cares?
