Yes, it's necessary to love, to hate, to envy, to be grateful; it's necessary to be alive and feel all these things. It's necessary to seek, to dig, to experience, to become aware. Bukowski said you're not a writer if you're sitting around waiting for the right circumstances to write. A writer writes. Maybe to really be a writer one must experience death?

Thanks Michael, I have a couple of quotes I like that have sustained me:

THAT I did always love,
I bring thee proof:
That till I loved
I did not love enough.

--Emily Dickinson

What a power is love! It is the most wonderful, the greatest of all living powers.
Love gives life to the lifeless. Love lights a flame in the heart that is cold. Love
brings hope to the hopeless and gladdens the hearts of the sorrowful.
In the world of existence there is indeed no greater power than the power of love.
When the heart of man is aglow with the flame of love, he is ready to sacrifice all—
even his life. In the Gospel it is said God is love.

oh and this:

"Every word of thy poetry is indeed like unto a mirror in which the evidences of the devotion and love thou cherishest for God and His chosen ones are reflected...Its perusal hath truly proved highly impressive, for it was indicative of both the light of reunion and the fire of separation."
