Splinter In Your Palm

#1 Post by BobBradshaw » 26 Apr 2019, 04:18

Splinter In Your Palm

I am the splinter you carry
secretly in your palm,
a charm you stroke
as if for good luck.

I am the two margueritas
at the end of the day,
but also the blackmail
a click away.

I am the silence at the end
of a phone call,
my presence like a perfume
your wife can almost
sniff through the line.

I am the team of lawyers
that at any moment
could arrive at your door,
papers served.

I am also smoke
from a fire you can't put out,
sometimes a wisp
of smoke as subtle

as the perfume you don’t
quite wash out of your
perfectly groomed hair.

Wicked. Great persona poem and reminds me that
Stormy Daniels is the only qualified person Trump ever hired. Love it.

Bob, I am sorry I missed this poem of yours.
A different tone, different style,
but interestingly done.

I like this very much, Bob. It's different. Your first line really drew me in. I love the metaphors and occasional inner rhyme and the way the story unfolds.

The ending is brilliant

I am also smoke
from a fire you can't put out,
sometimes a wisp
of smoke as subtle

as the perfume you don’t
quite wash out of your
perfectly groomed hair.

Perhaps a different title as it's repeated in the 1st line.
