All great men know one thing:
Nobody listens. Violence is the
Language of the ignored. Mandela
Hated it and used it judiciously.
Van Gogh turned it inward and
Ended with it. But Jesus. Jesus
Was born to it and cradled it
As one would a swaddling babe,
Accepted it, defined it even.
John Kennedy said, " those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution
inevitable, right before the shot off his head
Like Oil and Vinegar

Good, solid poem.

Re: Like Oil and Vinegar
Hi Kenneth,
potent poetry
maybe w/out "like" in the title
With the title, it seems that the word "mix" or "mingle" might appear in the Jesus section of the poem -
the miracle of mixing the oil & vinegar - workshop-sharing:
. . . But Jesus. Jesus
Was born to it and cradled it
As one would a swaddling babe,
Accepted it, even divined it in the miracle
of the mingling of oil and vinegar.
Workshop-share for the last stanza:
Centuries later, John Kennedy would assert:
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible,
make violent revolution inevitable,"
right before they shot off his head.
^^ Experimenting with time by tense:
Centuries later, John Kennedy will assert:
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible,
make violent revolution inevitable,"
right before they shoot off his head.
One for the short list, if your poem will be available.
Thanks, Kenneth,
Michael (MV)

Re: Like Oil and Vinegar
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm loathe to submit to IBPC at this time. I'm really surprised no one has cared enough to tell us what is going on. It borders on disrespect. Thank you
